About the therapist.

What’s the story

“ An expansive educational and occupational career prior to my work as a psychotherapist has contributed to the life experience I bring in to the therapy room. I often come with a philosophical and anaytical lens, founded at undergraduate level (2005), which as been built upon with an intersubjective and relational approach to the work that informs my understanding of people; relationships - with both others and ourselves; and an individual’s experience of love, loss, life and existence.

As a pioneer volunteer mentor with The Children’s Society, I helped coordinate and run art and drama group therapy sessions with children and young people whose carers struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues. We also provided 1-2-1, pastoral and practical support. My work here directly led to my training and qualification as an Integrative Psychotherpist, at UEL. I have worked both long and short term with clients in organisations that help support parents and families - working specifically with underprivileged members of marginalised communities in our society, and specialise in addiction and domestic abuse support (1-2-1 and group work). In Private Practice my client work is focused on identifying and processing trauma, whilst addressing the impacts of living as intersectional members of marginalised communities within the oppressive society we find ourselves in today.

My own personal experiences of abuse, trauma and recognising my own intersectional marginalised identity in a patriarchal, capitalist, white dominant, euro-centric, heteronormative, ableist, neurotypical society have contributed greatly to my approach and understanding of the work. I have benefitted immensely from my own personal therapeutic journey and I continue to work on myself in this way, on an ongoing basis - meaning I know (and won’t forget) what it’s like to sit in the client’s chair.

Consequently, my approach is intersubjective, informative, open, congruent and collaborative. Relatively informal - you’ll often find me cross-legged, shoes off - I aim to create a safe space for you to be present in whatever way makes you feel most comfortable, too.

If there’s something I can do to help with this, please let me know.”
